Swim Camp Fundraising
58 swimmers from across the County of Cornwall, have been training up to 50000 metres per week, in order to get fit for the ultimate warm weather training camp in Feuteventura coached by double Olympian Jemma Lowe and 2012 Olympian Tom Haffield. Unfortunately, it would seem that their dreams will be crushed as they were booked on Monarch flights which have gone bust. Please help us raise the money needed to pay for replacement flights so they can get to their training camp... thank you so much!
CCASA Pre-Pathway Swim Clinic on Sunday 17th September 2017
English Swimming’s governing body, operates a series of pathways for England's swimmers in order to talent spot and identify strong and weak areas for the future. This year the British Swimming Talent Pathways team, will focus on the 11 year old age group by way of county run camps.
In order to ensure we are in a strong position to support the British Talent camps, we have decided to run a county pre pathway swim clinic which will include all swimmers who are regularly training with their swim club, and are aged 11 years and under. There may be a slight leeway on age criteria - speak to your child's coach.
We will have at least 3 ex GB swimmers who have attended an Olympics and who now coach. They will be assisted by some of our county coaches.
The clinic will be a rotation of 3 sessions: pool session, land training and an interactive lecture on nutrition - they'll be eating and drinking - so it will be fun!
The culmination of the clinic will be a question and answer session where your swimmers can ask the panel of coaches, almost anything ..... this is a very popular part of the clinic and the swimmers gain a lot just by listening to the experiences of those who have achieved such a lot in swimming. Finally there will be time to have a photo taken and maybe get an autograph or two!
This is a very worthwhile clinic for our young influential swimmers. It's a day of inspiration that they will remember for a long time.
North Cornwall Dragons Annual General Meeting
Friday 19th May 2017 - Wadebridge Pool - 7.45pm
The AGM takes place immediately after our in house gala at Wadebridge next Friday 19th May.
All our current officers are carrying on in their current posts apart from Jackie Sharland who is stepping down as Assistant Membership Secretary, Publicity Officer and Swim21 Coordinator. Nominations already received have been entered onto the list which has been emailed out to all club members, but if you would like to make a nomination or be considered for any of these positions please let us know no later than Thursday 18th May
On behalf of everyone on the committee I would like to say a big thank you to Jackie for all her help and support.
The only post that remains open is that of Publicity Officer. The post requires someone able to liaise with local media with reports and photos of NCD events and success stories and to promote the club wherever possible. Needs to be proactive.
We will also be running a presentation on how to enter galas, from filling out entry forms to which sort of galas are suitable for my child.
So come along and have some of your questions answered.
Hope to see you there.

Fancy helping your club by becoming an Official?
In order to run our own licensed meets, which will allow the times to be ranked with the ASA and used in the future, we need a full compliment of officials and we just don't have enough.
You might have seen several requests for your help and we have 8 parents who have passed or are studying for their qualifications. But we need more!!
If anyone would like to sign up to become an official, please let us know and we can set things in motion. It can be studied at your leisure, once you have attended two classroom meetings at Bodmin which can be during your swimmers session to make things easier. If you are unsure about it and want to know more, please let us know and we can show you exactly what is involved before you commit.

The program is structured around five levels of development: foundation, teaching, skill development, competitive development and performance. Each level contains criteria that a club is required to meet in order to be accredited.

OLIVER JARVIS COMPETES AT NATIONALS
Oliver Jarvis competed in the national winter short course championships at Sheffield last month. Following in older brother Calum's footsteps, Oliver qualified for freestyle and backstroke events. In the 200 back he swam a personal best time of 2.03.92 and in the 400 freestyle he was just outside his best, putting it down to nerves getting the better of him. 18 year old Oliver swam against the top swimmers in Great Britain including fellow North Cornwall Dragons member, brother Calum who trains at Bath University.
Calum won a world championship gold medal in the summer championships at Kazan and is British champion on 100 freestyle. His younger brother 'Oli ' was lucky enough to join team Bath for a weeks training, working alongside British record holders Lizzie Simmonds, Jazz Carlin and Jemma Lowe, and under the expertise of head coach Dave Mcnulty who has been pre selected as one of the coaching staff for the Rio Olympic Games.

You earn certificates for the hours of extra learning you choose to do in your free time.
2nd September 2015:
We will operate a new timetable from 7th Sept - 9th Nov to assess swimmers' attendance and ability to ensure the best group allocation.
From November we will operate the following changes to try and best accommodate swimmers and help them reach their aquatic potential:
Intermediate to be split into two as county or junior county each with competition requirements. Swimmers who wish to train for fitness rather than competition, will be able to move into the fitness pathway
The entry pathway currently consists of Dragons at Bodmin and Novices at Wadebridge. From November all entry groups will be called Dragons and consist of lanes of a different colour denoted by swim caps.
Unfortunately, to save money we have had to postpone Friday pm sessions at Bodmin. There will now be a Wadebridge water and land session for the affected swimmers.
Water sessions may be slightly reduced in time in order to run a land training programme
ALL SWIMMERS MUST BRING A WATER BOTTLE TO TRAINING - PLEASE ENSURE IT IS A SPORTS CAP DRINKING BOTTLE
IT SHOULD HOLD AT LEAST 1 LITRE AND SWIMMERS MUST AIM TO DRINK AT LEAST THIS DURING A SESSION
Where possible, please arrive in time to perform pre pool mobilisation.
From November, this will be compulsory please, as it is a proven advantage to your water training session
